My make up business was pretty non-existent and I missed doing make up so much. It was devastating to hear from my brides that they were having to postpone their weddings on 2 or 3 occasions and my heart went out to them. I was only able to be a part of 2 weddings this year, just 2!!!!
But those 2 weddings will hold a very special place in my heart forever. Both were small weddings with only 15 people present. Keely's wedding was held at HIghcliffe Castle and her photographer was Kirstie Jones Photography and my other bride Maria got married at the Kings Arms Hotel in Christchurch with Beth Wilson being their photographer for the day. Maria and Rob had attempted to get married twice before during the year with one of them being in Australia before they were put into lockdown and they had to return to England . They were finally able to tie the knot on Saturday 10th October.
I really do hope that the scientists are correct in saying that things will be a lot better by Spring. Bring on the days when we can once again have a disco at our wedding, and have as many guests as we like and where face masks won't make identifying your guests in years to come a game of Guess Who. I for one am trying to remain positive and I look forward to meeting all my beautiful brides later on in the year. Until then, take care and stay safe x

The list is endless and there are so many options out there now. Here are a few of my top tips to help you make your own decision and what’s going to be popular in 2018:
A lot of brides often shy away from any sort of colour especially if they aren’t used to wearing much colour normally. But you can add a hint of sexiness to your look by going for soft grey slate colours. If you have brown eyes this will make your eyes pop even more and look super sexy and even darker too.
If you never wear a bright red lipstick then don’t wear it on your wedding day. You don’t want to look like a different person on your wedding day. You just want to look like a polished version of yourself so if you normally wear a nude lipstick then go for something similar to that. However, if you love a bold, bright colour on your lips then stick to that and go for the brightest colour you can get.
Gorgeous glowing skin is still going to be massive for 2018 so embrace the highlighter and glow away.
We all love a bit of sparkle and if your dress is no exception then why should your make up be. Metallic eyeliners are going to be a bit hit this year. Just a sweep over your top lash line adds a subtle hint of shimmer which is just perfect for a sparkling gown.

I know so many people that would love to pull off a sexy smokey eye without looking like they have two black eyes. There are so many different techniques out there too which can be confusing but it really isn't as difficult as you think it is. I wanted to share my top tips with you, to become a healthier you in the lead up to your wedding day. It is never too early to make a start and what better time than January when we all make New Years resolutions. It really doesn’t take much to improve your skin or your energy levels and just by following a few simple rules you should soon start to see the benefits.
January is the perfect time to make a lifestyle change but remember it isn’t all to do with food intake. It should be holistic as well.
Try to reduce the amount of processed foods you consume as well as sugar, caffeinated drinks and alcohol.
Thinking about giving up those cigarettes??? You can do it!!!
Eat regular meals with plenty of fresh veg and a moderate amount of fruit. These contain key antioxidant nutrients to support the natural detoxification processes. Try to include raw seeds, nuts and oily fish in your diet. They contain beneficial omega fats.
Drink plenty of fluids. This doesn’t have to be just water. You can also enjoy herbal teas. Try to avoid large amount of fruit juices as they do contain a lot of sugar. You can try making your own smoothie instead with lovely fresh fruit and vegetables.
Take a multivitamin.
I know it’s cold, wet and windy outside but try to get out there and do some exercise every week. You want to aim to do about 150 minutes and this can include things like cycling, brisk walking, aerobics. Sweating is a great way to eliminate toxins from the body and it helps to deal with stress too.
If you are suffering with wedding related stress try yoga to help regain control of those difficult situations.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep each night and try not to consume caffeine, sugar rich foods or alcohol 3 hours before bed.
Switch your phone off at the end of the day as well as laptops and tablets and enjoy that extra hour with your partner.
Have you ever been flicking through a magazine or watching your favourite programme on the television when you come across a gorgeous looking lady with the most flawless skin you have ever seen? I regularly have ladies who come to me and their skin is just beautiful. It’s smooth, wrinkle free, hydrated, perfection. I have never been lucky enough to have that type of skin. As a teenager I suffered quite badly with acne and ended up having to take medication to keep it under control.
This year whilst I was looking at my reflection in the mirror admiring (I say admiring in a very sarcastic tone) those silver streaks that have appeared in my hair by the dozen overnight and the new wrinkles by my eyes I decided that it was time for me to look at my skincare routine.
I decided to do A LOT of research to find the best products for me and I came across a couple of brands I was very excited about and just had to share with you all. So, the first item that everyone should use once a week is a scrub and this Fresh Apple Zesty Lime Scrub is amazing. The name was the first thing that caught my eye because lets face it, any scrub that sounds like a cheesecake has to be good!!! The second great thing was the smell. I must have been stood in the aisle for a good 5 minutes just smelling this scrub!!! After getting a few strange looks I popped it in my basket and moved on. The texture of it is quite coarse which I really like and it leaves your skin feeling soooo soft. At just £3 this is a total bargain.
The next lot of products I decided to purchase was the ELEMIS skincare range. My skin got very dehydrated during the Winter months so I desperately wanted to put that glow back into my face. I decided to purchase the Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil, Rehydrating Rosepetal Cleanser and the Rehydrating Ginseng toner followed by Hydra-Boost Day Cream and all I can say is OH MY GOD!!!!! These products are amazeballs. Within a week my skin was no longer dry, my makeup went on smoother, the dreaded zits that had started to make a come back disappeared and I was glowing!!! The Elemis skincare range is quite pricey but I’ve been using my products since December and as you only need a tiny bit of each they last ages. I really recommend the above for Dry/Dehydrated skin but they cover all types of skin such as Oily, Blemishes, Fine lines and wrinkles, lifting and firming. The list goes on.
So, the first steps to achieving gorgeous flawless looking makeup is to start with the skin underneath it. Think of your face as a wall. If it’s plastered it’s easier to apply a nice smooth coat of paint. If it’s not then all you get is a rough, lumpy bumpy looking wall. Now where did I put that cheesecake…
I often get asked how on earth do I manage to keep my lipstick on all night without having to touch up. If applied correctly then you can eat and drink without the need to apply again. Here’s a little makeup lesson for you all to create a perfect red lip
Make sure that when your applying your foundation you also cover your lips. This will help the lipstick to stay on no matter how much eating, drinking or smooching you do.
Next, you will want to line and fill your lips. I love the MAC lip pencils and for that perfect pout I use Ruby Woo. Definitely one to add to your makeup kit. Warm the pencil up a little bit on the back of your hand before using. The liner will make the lipstick last longer and will prevent any bleeding.
For the lipstick I really like the ones by Sleek. They aren’t too expensive and come in loads of shades. My favourite palette is the Siren one and you can even buy these now in Superdrug for just £8.99. That’s amazing!!!!
Onto makeup brushes. It is so important when doing a red lip that you use a good brush. You need the application to be perfect. I love my lip brush by Royal and Langnickel.
Take the wrong end of your brush and pop some of the lipstick onto the back of your hand. Apply to your lips then take a piece of tissue paper and separate it in half so you now have two pieces.
Put one piece of tissue over your lips. (Keep your mouth closed at this point or you’ll end up with a mouthful of powder) Take a large fluffy brush and dip into loose powder. Tap over the tissue on your lips. Apply more lipstick and repeat the blotting process again.
You are now good to go with a perfect looking pout. And one more final tip, to avoid any lipstick stains getting on your glass discreetly lick the side of your glass. Notice I say discreetly ladies. Don’t start licking it like an ice lolly or you may get some very strange looks indeed. This little trick will keep the lipstick on your lips, not your glass!!
Why not finish this look with winged eyeliner and some gorgeous lashes. Perfect makeup for wedding.
I wanted to share with you this gorgeous photo of Sam who had her Wedding at the Orangery suite in Wimborne. The venue is set in a beautiful countryside location and has plenty of perfect photo opportunities. I decided for Sam’s wedding makeover that I wanted to use pretty pinks and plums to compliment her gorgeous flowers and the delicate pink within her dress. Sam also used two different shades of lipsticks at her wedding. A pretty baby pink for the ceremony and then a darker pink for her evening do. I have so many photos from Sam’s day but these 3 are my favourites.
